RULES FOR USE OF THE CAMP

GENERAL

  • This Camp was built by the five Skala Boys. For liability reasons, at least one of the Skala Boys must be present when this Camp is in use.

  • The Skala Camp is a smoke-free facility. If you or your guests must smoke, it must be done outside.

  • While pets are discouraged, any pet related stains, smells and/or damage are the responsibility of the person reserving the Camp

PARKING

  • Park in the spots on the Camp's Road side of the camp, near the garage or just in front of the front door. Do not park in the backyard as the septic tank and drywell are back there and could cave in.

BEDS AND LINENS

  • There are beds to sleep up to eight. While there are some blankets and pillows, plan on bringing enough towels, linens and pillow cases for everyone. Sleeping bags on top of the beds are OK but bring pillow cases.

  • If a bed is used, before leaving, be sure to remove your linens, remake the bed as it was and take your linens home.

TRASH AND RECYCLABLES

  • At the end of each visit be sure to empty all trash cans, consolidating trash where possible, replace trash bags and drop trash bags in our bin on Shields Road. Take recyclables home, the town does not take them.

DISHES, UTENSILS

  • Wash all dishes and utensils and put them away at end of your visit.

FOOD

  • Plan on bringing your own food, feel free to leave non-perishable items for others to consume. Take all perishable items home with you. Questionable items will be tossed at the end of each season.

SUPPLIES (Cups, paper plates, charcoal, wood, etc.)

  • If you use a lot, please bring your own or replace what you’ve used. Leaving unused supplies is appreciated.

TOOLS

  • Dad’s rule still holds: “Put them away after use”

OVERNIGHT USE

  • Sign up using the camp reservation website. If that’s not possible, contact everyone to make sure there isn’t a scheduling conflict

CLEANING

  • Inside: At the end of each visit, empty all garbage cans, clean both toilets and all sinks, vacuum the bedrooms and main floor. Sweep the garage as needed.  Try to leave the Camp cleaner than you found it.

  • Outside: Keep the deck and grounds clear of all litter (including cigarette butts per Dad’s request). Pick up fallen branches and pile in fireplace

BEACH

  • Keep it clean, bring up any trash, even if you didn’t put it there.

CAMP FIRES

  • Keep all campfires of manageable size. Be mindful of overhead limbs and flying sparks. Don’t burn stupid things like tires, aerosol cans, glass bottles, etc.  Make sure all fires are out before going to bed or leaving, especially if you have a fire on the beach .
